Terms of Use For Meal Donation

tukr box Meal Donation Terms of Use

Last Updated: January 2026

Thank you for being part of the tukr box community. Our mission is simple: provide gourmet pasta
meal kits with built-in giving that automatically donates warm meals to at-risk veterans,
isolated seniors, and families in need. These Meal Donation Terms of Use explain how our
built-in giving model works, as well as the optional personal sharing feature included with
every tukr box.

By purchasing a tukr box meal kit, you agree to the following terms.

1. Purpose of tukr box

tukr box provides gourmet pasta meal kits with built-in giving. Every purchase automatically
triggers the donation of a warm meal to someone facing food insecurity—at-risk veterans,
isolated seniors, or families in need.

How built-in giving works: When you purchase a tukr box, we coordinate with
local partner organizations to provide a warm meal to someone in need. You don’t need to do
anything except enjoy your dinner—we handle sourcing, coordination, and delivery.

Optional personal sharing: Each tukr box also includes optional sharing
supplies (to-go container, fork, and tukr bag) for customers who choose to personally share
a meal with someone in their community. This is completely optional and separate from the
automatic donation that occurs with every purchase.

tukr box is not a food bank, shelter, or government program. We are a social enterprise that
provides gourmet meal kits while funding meal donations through our built-in giving model.

2. Built-In Giving: Automatic Donation

Every tukr box purchase includes an automatic meal donation. By purchasing a tukr box, you
understand and agree that:

  • One warm meal will be donated on your behalf to an at-risk veteran, isolated senior, or family in need
  • tukr box coordinates donations through partner organizations
  • You are not required to personally deliver or participate in the donation
  • Donation fulfillment timing may vary based on partner organization schedules
  • tukr box reserves the right to determine how and where donations are distributed

The built-in giving donation is included in your purchase price. No additional action is
required from you.

3. Optional Personal Sharing

Each tukr box includes optional sharing supplies for customers who wish to personally share
a meal with someone in their community. Using these supplies is entirely voluntary.

If you choose to use the optional sharing supplies to personally share a meal, you agree to:

  • Prepare food in a reasonable and sanitary manner
  • Use the included to-go container as intended and keep it clean before packaging
  • Share only food that appears wholesome, fresh, and safe to eat
  • Avoid knowingly giving spoiled, contaminated, or improperly handled food
  • Act in good faith with the intention of helping another person
  • Respect recipients’ dignity and personal boundaries

When personally sharing food, you are the food preparer and donor. tukr box does not
handle or prepare food that you choose to personally share.

4. Legal Protection for Personal Sharing

If you choose to use the optional sharing supplies to personally share a meal, you may be
protected under federal law.

The Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act of 1996 protects individuals
who donate food in good faith to those in need. This protection applies even when food is
prepared in a home kitchen and given directly to an individual.

Under this federal law:

  • Donors are protected from civil and criminal liability when donating apparently wholesome food in good faith
  • Protection applies to individuals, families, and businesses—not just nonprofits
  • Protection does not apply if a donor engages in gross negligence or intentional misconduct

By choosing to personally share a meal using tukr box supplies, you acknowledge that your
donation qualifies as a good-faith act covered by this law when food is prepared and handled
reasonably.

5. Recipient Acknowledgment

For meals donated through built-in giving: Meals are prepared and distributed
by tukr box partner organizations following their food safety protocols.

For meals personally shared using optional supplies: Recipients understand
and agree that:

  • The food was prepared by an individual, not by tukr box
  • The individual is acting voluntarily and without compensation from tukr box
  • The food should be accepted only if the container is sealed and the meal appears wholesome
  • tukr box cannot guarantee the preparation or handling conditions of personally shared meals

Recipients of personally shared meals assume any risk associated with consuming the food.

6. tukr box Liability Disclaimer

To the fullest extent allowed by law:

  • tukr box is not responsible for how meals are prepared, stored, transported, or personally shared by individuals using the optional sharing supplies
  • tukr box makes no warranties regarding the safety, quality, or suitability of any meal that customers choose to personally share
  • tukr box is not liable for any illness, injury, or damages that may arise from the preparation, personal sharing, or consumption of meals shared using the optional supplies

For built-in giving donations: tukr box coordinates donations through partner
organizations who maintain their own food safety standards. tukr box is not liable for the
actions or omissions of partner organizations.

tukr box provides meal kits with built-in giving and optional sharing supplies. Decisions about
personal sharing rest with the individual customer.

7. No Obligation to Personally Share

Purchasing a tukr box meal kit does not create any requirement or obligation to personally
share food using the optional supplies. The built-in giving donation happens automatically
with your purchase—no additional action is required.

The optional sharing supplies are provided as a convenience for customers who choose
to personally share. You may use them, give them away, or discard them at your discretion.

8. Safety Guidelines for Personal Sharing

If you choose to use the optional sharing supplies, tukr box encourages you to follow basic
safe food-handling practices:

  • Wash hands thoroughly before preparing food
  • Cook ingredients thoroughly according to recipe instructions
  • Place the meal in the container promptly after cooking
  • Keep food away from contaminants
  • Share the meal soon after preparation
  • Leave meals in safe and visible locations when sharing anonymously

These guidelines help protect both you and the person receiving the meal.

9. Community Conduct

When personally sharing a meal using tukr box supplies, you agree to:

  • Respect recipients’ dignity and personal boundaries
  • Avoid engaging in unsafe or inappropriate interactions
  • Not use tukr box products or branding for any unlawful purpose

tukr box reserves the right to restrict access to its products or community features for
individuals who misuse the program.

10. Updates to These Terms

tukr box may update these Terms of Use periodically. Changes will be posted on this page
with an updated effective date. Continued use of tukr box products indicates acceptance of
the updated terms.
