tukr box® Donor Release & Acknowledgment
Last Updated: December 10, 2025
Thank you for choosing to participate in the tukr box® mission. By preparing a meal and donating a portion to someone in need, you’re helping restore dignity, connection, and compassion in your community.
This Donor Release & Acknowledgment outlines your responsibilities as a donor and the protections available to you under federal law. By using a tukr box® meal kit and donating food, you agree to the following terms.
1. Donor Intent
I acknowledge that my meal donation is:
- A voluntary act of kindness
- Offered without expectation of payment or benefit
- Intended to help an individual who may be homeless, elderly, food-insecure, or otherwise in need
I understand that I am the person preparing the meal and that tukr box® does not prepare, handle, or inspect donated food.
2. Good Faith Donation
I agree that:
- The food I donate will be apparently wholesome, meaning it looks, smells, and seems safe to eat.
- I will follow reasonable food-handling practices during preparation.
- I will not knowingly donate spoiled, contaminated, or improperly prepared food.
- I am donating this meal in good faith, with no intention of causing harm.
3. Federal Liability Protection
I acknowledge that the Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act of 1996 provides liability protection for individuals like me when donating food in good faith.
Under this federal law:
- I cannot be held civilly or criminally liable for harm caused by the food I donate unless I engage in gross negligence or intentional misconduct.
- This protection applies to food prepared in my home and donated directly to an individual.
- No nonprofit, shelter, or intermediary is required for protection.
I understand that my use of the tukr box® kit aligns with this protected good-faith donation framework.
4. Donor Responsibility
I accept full responsibility for:
- The ingredients I use
- The preparation process
- The handling and packaging of the donated meal
- The location or method by which the donation is delivered or left
I understand that tukr box® provides meal kits and educational materials only and is not responsible for the food I prepare or donate.
5. Release of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I voluntarily release and hold harmless tukr box®, its founders, employees, volunteers, and affiliates from:
- Any claims related to the preparation, contamination, storage, or delivery of the meal I donate
- Any claims arising from how recipients choose to consume or handle the donated food
- Any claims linked to the donation process outside of tukr box®’s direct control
This release applies whether the donation is made directly to a person or left in a location where someone in need may retrieve it.
6. Recipient Autonomy
I understand that:
- Meal recipients consume the donated food at their own discretion.
- Recipients are advised to accept meals only if the container is sealed and the food appears wholesome.
- tukr box® has no involvement in the recipient’s decision to consume the meal.
7. No Guarantee of Outcome
I understand that:
- tukr box® cannot guarantee the condition of food once it leaves my possession.
- tukr box® does not supervise or control the distribution or consumption of donated meals.
I agree that my participation is voluntary and that I bear sole responsibility for the food I prepare.
8. Acknowledgment and Agreement
By using a tukr box® meal kit or participating in a meal donation, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agree to these terms.
I understand that my donation is both legally protected and personally meaningful.
I agree to donate food responsibly, in good faith, and with compassion.
